This may not be an odd shot in Yakima Valley, but it is in Maryland. John Deere tractors have wheels and this is the only John Deere crawler I have seen. In the 1940's John Deere shipped tractor chassis to the Lindeman brothers in Yakima where they were mounted on crawler tracks. The crawlers were preferred in the orchards as they were more stable on the hills. Later John Deere manufactured crawlers in its Dubuque factory. I began this blog in 2008 after I retired. My main interest is photography and so most posts will contain photos, along with brief comments or explanations. I participate in several weekly blogs and occasionally post my own recurring themes. Occasionally I throw in comments, kudos or complaints about the world situation. I am retired, married to a smart, talented lady who once thought we computer people were geeks and now is one of us geeks. I have a long time interest in photography. We live in Maryland, about 50 miles from Washington, DC.
My main camera is a Nikon D3100 with two zoom lenses (18-55 and 55-200).

That's an interesting shot and thanks for the info -- I was wondering about the wheels -- or lack thereof! Hope you have a great day, Lew!
