Odd Shots - Loose goose

Is it odd to see a goose flying out of a window? This one has been on the loose for a number of years, but has yet to reach a body of water. It is, in fact, a "trompe l'oeil", a painting created by William Cochran. What is a bit of happenstance is that on February 1 when I took this picture, the sun angle (see below) was close to that of the painted shadow of the goose.

Reflections - In green

I spotted this reflection in a recently renovated building in Frederick. It is now a tatoo parlor.

Reflections - Creek and sun

The above image was taken May 7 towards the sun over Carroll Creek. I got a bright reflection and dark silhouette of the city skyline. I used the levels command in PhotoShop Elements to adjust the range of dark and light tones in the image and got the image below which brought our details not visible in the normal image. A further adjustment of the color gave the dramatic third image.

Reflections - Candy Kitchen

I have shown reflections in this widow in the past from a different angle. This time you get to see some of the inside of the Candy Kitchen window as well as the skyline across the street. More shots of this window are on my Window Views post this week.

Reflections - My camera and me

I found myself reflected in a mirror in this window last Saturday. You can see other shots of the marionettes on my Window Views.

Reflections - Two for Friday

Above is the reflection of the street and other buildings across from the Museum of Civil War Medicine. And I just cannot resist the reflections in the building below, even on an overcast afternoon. For a reflection of the Space Station and Discovery, check Discovery in Twilight.

Reflections - Patrick's window

The windows of Patrick's Irish Pub are always good for reflections and on a sunny afternoon the buildings across the street really shine.

Skyline - Clouds above Frederick

Last Saturday was a beautiful day and the skies above the houses and buildings in Frederick made for some great photo opportunities. The building in the last image was gutted by fire in July.

Autos - Golden Gears Car Club

1936 Chrysler Airflow (modified!)

The members of the Golden Gears Car Club of Frederick brought their autos to town last Saturday. The club sponsors events for charity and participates in other events like Frederick's First Saturday. But mainly they have a passion for American automobiles of all types and ages. Some of the cars are restored, some modified (both bodies and engines), and some maintained in original condition. Here are some shots of a few of these beautiful traveling machines.

Reflections - Sweet Memories

Sweet Memories is a candy store in downtown Frederick. Looking up we get a nice reflection of the sky and tops of buildings. Then pointng the camera level, the passing cars and buildings across the street appear.

Autos - First Saturday Vintage air cooled

Here are some of the vintage German air-cooled autos on display during the First Saturday celebration in Frederick. Above is a 1970 model. The VW below is truly "bug-eyed".
